Welcome to Bob’s favorite time of year!
Now it doesn’t really seem fair that he’s going to get to have all of October to enjoy his favorite genre of movies, and then all of November to have his own picks – but it’s also not his fault that that’s when his birthday happened to occur. So we have to follow how the year set itself up, I suppose.
Normally, we’d do our Halloween movies in the same way we do every other movie, in date order, but here’s a not at all well kept secret – I hate horror movies. Hate them. I hate them so much. They’re my least favorite thing, and up until this marathon I have been very happily able to avoid them while Bob enjoyed them by himself, the way nature intended.
So, in an effort to make this month more pleasant for both of us, we’ve decided to alternate our picks the Halloween movies that we watch, in whatever order we’d like, because that seems fair, and in return Bob will try and to only choose a few actual horror movies. I have literally not watched a horror movie in over a decade, and I’m not really a ‘jump into the pool’ kind of girl. I gotta get my toes wet first. Next year we’ll probably reinstate our ‘in order’ rule, but for this first one…he’s decided to be kind enough to compromise. Aren’t I lucky?
Please enjoy this month with us, while Bob tries to educate me into all the reasons horror is ‘not that bad’ and that ‘scaring yourself is fun’; both of which seem like complete crap to someone with generalized anxiety disorder, but you know what? Maybe he’ll convert me.
I doubt it. But let’s find out together.
